What is the Claudie Almond Tree?
The Claudie almond tree is usually about 15 meters tall. However, some of these trees can grow much taller, reaching up to 26 meters! Its bark is a mix of gray and brown colors.
Flowers and Fruit
The flowers of the Claudie almond grow in clusters called racemes. Their petals are usually white or a light green color. These petals, along with the sepals (the small leaf-like parts that protect the flower bud), are covered in tiny hairs.
After the flowers, the tree grows juicy fruits. These fruits change color as they ripen, from red to black. They are a favorite food for large birds called cassowaries.
