Prut facts for kids
The Prut River, also known as Pruth, is a long river in Eastern Europe. It stretches for 953 kilometers (about 592 miles). The Prut starts high up in the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine, specifically near Hoverla, which is Ukraine's highest mountain. From there, it flows southeast and eventually joins the mighty Danube river. This meeting point is close to the cities of Reni in Ukraine and Galaţi in Romania.
The Prut River forms a natural border between several countries. It flows through Ukraine, then along the border between Romania and Moldova, before finally reaching the Danube. It's an important river for the areas it passes through, supporting wildlife and providing water.
