Pulkkila is a small village in northern Finland. It used to be its own town, called a municipality, but now it's part of a bigger area called Siikalatva. Pulkkila is like the main office for the Siikalatva area. It's located in a region known as Northern Ostrobothnia.
This village is about 90 kilometers (56 miles) south of Oulu and 250 kilometers (155 miles) north of Jyväskylä. As of 2015, Pulkkila had 792 people living there. Everyone in the village speaks Finnish.
Pulkkila is well-known for its metal industry. It's also famous for the Uljua artificial lake, which is a man-made reservoir.
History of Pulkkila
Pulkkila was an independent municipality, meaning it managed its own affairs, for many years. It was officially established in 1867.
However, on January 1, 2009, Pulkkila joined with three other nearby municipalities: Kestilä, Piippola, and Rantsila. They all came together to form a new, larger municipality called Siikalatva. This means Pulkkila is now a village within the Siikalatva area.
