Punata is a city in Bolivia. It is the capital of Punata Province. It is also the main town in Punata Municipality. Punata is located in the Cochabamba Department. In 2012, about 19,559 people lived there. By 2012, the population grew to 28,707 people.
People from Punata and nearby areas are often called "Vallunos." This means they come from the valleys. Punata is famous for its big agricultural market. This market happens every Tuesday. People from all around come to buy and sell goods.
