Purvis is a small, quiet place in northern Camden County, Missouri. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
Purvis is special because it sits right on the north shore of the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. This big lake is a popular spot for fun activities. Nearby, you can find the Purvis cemetery, located across a part of the lake called Brush Creek. About two miles north, in Morgan County, is the community of Laurie, which is on Missouri Route 5.
A Look Back: Purvis History
Purvis has a short but interesting history. The community was named after a local family who lived in the area.
When Was the Post Office Open?
A post office was first opened in Purvis in the year 1888. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years before it finally closed down in 1945.
