Geography

Where is Putnam?

Putnam is located in the southwestern part of Marengo County, Alabama. You can find it along Alabama State Route 69. The community is about 28 miles (45 km) southwest of Linden, which is the main town of the county. It is also about 24 miles (39 km) north of Coffeeville.

Land and Water

Putnam sits at an elevation of 226 feet (69 meters) above sea level. The U.S. Census Bureau says that the Putnam CDP covers an area of 9.5 square miles (24.6 square kilometers). All of this area is land. Horse Creek borders the community to the north, and Big Bunny Creek is to the south. Both of these creeks flow west and eventually join the Tombigbee River.
