Daniel Dove (born October 25, 1994), known professionally as Pvrx (pronounced Pie-Rex), is a Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter. Pvrx is famous for telling stories in his music about his life experiences. He signed with Def Jam Recordings in 2017. His first album, called an EP, was 3.14, released on July 26, 2019.

Pvrx's Early Life and Inspiration

Pvrx was born and grew up in the Rexdale area of Toronto, Ontario. This neighborhood is where he got the idea for his stage name. He is the youngest of three children, raised by his single mother from Jamaica.

His mother loved listening to dancehall music. However, Pvrx was inspired by artists like The Lox, Jay-Z, Eminem, and 50 Cent. He often shares stories in his songs about the challenges he faced growing up. Pvrx started making music as a way to express himself and deal with his experiences.

Pvrx's Music Career Journey

Starting Out and a Break (2011–2015)

Pvrx began rapping and singing in 2011 when he was 17 years old. He used the name Onsight RX at first. Music helped him cope with the tough parts of his life. During this time, he released many freestyle songs with other artists from Rexdale.

In 2012, he released his first mixtape, 2 Hot 2 Handle, with Moula 1st. Moula 1st is also a rapper and producer. Pvrx took a break from music in 2013 but started making it again in 2016.

Rising to Fame and Signing with Def Jam (2016–2019)

After his break, Pvrx joined The Remix Project. This program helps young people from difficult backgrounds develop their creative talents. Producers Hagler and DJ Agile were impressed by his music and accepted him into the program.

Gavin Sheppard, who started the program, shared Pvrx's songs with DJ Joe Kay. Joe Kay then connected Pvrx's manager with Scott Vener, a music supervisor for HBO. Scott Vener chose Pvrx's song Make It, released in June 2016, for the TV show Ballers in late 2016.

Scott Vener also recommended Pvrx to Paul Rosenberg, the CEO of Def Jam Recordings. They met in Toronto, and Pvrx became the first artist Paul Rosenberg signed in November 2017. There were also rumors that Pvrx might sign with Drake's OVO Sound record label.

Pvrx first appeared on a Def Jam album called Undisputed. He released his first songs with Def Jam, Mixed by 40 and Know Me, in August 2018.

His first album, 3.14, came out on July 26, 2019. It had seven songs and lasted 28 minutes. The album was known for its catchy tunes and powerful storytelling lyrics. It featured other artists like Dave East and Yung Pinch. Two singles from the album, Make It and Is U Down, quickly gained over a million views. Producers like FrancisGotHeat, Moula 1st, and Nineteen85 worked on the album. Pvrx was also featured on 6ixBuzz's album NorthernSound, released on December 13, 2019.

Recent Music (2020–Present)

On January 1, 2020, Pvrx released a music video for his song "Nun New". In 2020 and 2021, he released several more songs. These included "Gang Code", "Drill", and "Silence Is Golden". Fans praised his clever wordplay and how he stands out as both a singer and a rapper.
