Music Journey
Early in his career, Noah was a DJ known as DJ Chilly. He performed with MC Elite. Later, he switched from DJing to making music as a producer. He worked with local artists in Toronto. These included Empire, Knamelis, and Saukrates. He got the nickname "40 Days & 40 Nights" because he would work in the studio all night without sleeping. This name was later shortened to "40".
He started working with Aubrey Graham (Drake) in 2005. At first, 40 was just recording and mixing Drake's music. He didn't help with songwriting or production. After a few days, 40 decided to work only with Drake. He believed they would "take over the world together."
40's big moment came in 2009. He was an executive producer for Drake's mixtape So Far Gone. He worked on this with producer Boi-1da. 40 recorded and mixed every song on the mixtape. He also produced important tracks like "The Calm" and "Successful". These songs helped define Drake's future sound.
He continued to work on Drake's albums, including Thank Me Later and Take Care. For Take Care, 40 helped produce almost every song. He also recorded and mixed the whole album. 40 also produced songs for Lil Wayne ("I'm Single") and Alicia Keys ("Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready)").
In 2012, 40, Drake, and Oliver El-Khatib started the OVO record label. They often put new music on their blog site before it's officially released. For example, the song "Marvins Room" was posted online days after it was made. 40 has also helped produce Drake's newer songs, like "Started from the Bottom". He worked on Drake's albums Nothing Was the Same, Views, and Scorpion.
Music Style
40 has been very important in creating Drake's music. Together, their "dreamy, deep sound has changed hip hop music." 40's music style is often described as "simple, calm, slow-jam-like tracks." These songs use soft synthesizers, simple piano or guitar parts, and quiet, often muffled drums. They also have a movie-like atmosphere. For example, in the song "Marvins Room", 40 mixed the sound to be "very dark and quiet." The vocals cut through clearly, and the bass sounds are very strong.

In 2005, when he was 22, Noah Shebib was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). This is a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. He shares his story on the National Multiple Sclerosis Society website. He hopes that by sharing his experiences, he can help others and raise awareness about MS.
