Pyote (pronounced PY-oht) is a small town in Ward County, Texas, in the United States. In 2020, about 72 people lived there.

Pyote's Story
Pyote started as a small town. It grew bigger when oil was discovered nearby. However, its population dropped when the railroad was built away from the town. At one point, Pyote had 3,500 residents.
Things looked up for Pyote in 1942 when the Pyote Army Air Base was built. Later, in 1967, the West Texas State School was developed, which also helped the town.
