Qiu Zhu (Chinese: 仇珠; Wade–Giles: Ch'iu Chu) was a famous Chinese painter. She lived during the Ming dynasty, a long time ago in China. People often called her Miss Qiu. She was known for painting people and figures, not just landscapes. She especially painted the goddess Guanyin. Qiu Zhu was active as an artist from about 1565 to 1585.

About Qiu Zhu's Life
Qiu Zhu was born in Taicang, a city in China. Her father was Qiu Ying, a very famous painter. He was one of the "Four Masters of the Ming dynasty." It is believed that Qiu Zhu learned how to paint from her father.
Not much is known about her life. Some people think she married an artist named You Qiu. He was also influenced by her father's painting style. Qiu Zhu's father lived at the home of a rich art collector named Xiang Yuanbian. Qiu Zhu might have lived there too. She stayed close with the Xiang family even after her father passed away.
Qiu Zhu's Amazing Art
Qiu Zhu created many beautiful paintings. She was asked to make art for birthday gifts. She also made illustrations for poems. For example, she illustrated a poem called Nymph of the Luo River. This shows that her work was very popular and well-liked.
A scholar from the Ming dynasty once said Qiu Zhu was like "Li Gonglin among women." Li Gonglin was a highly respected artist. This means Qiu Zhu was considered a top painter of her time. She was known for her strong brushstrokes and delicate drawings.
Paintings of Guanyin
Qiu Zhu's most famous paintings are of Guanyin. Guanyin is a goddess of kindness and caring. She is especially important to women. Qiu Zhu's paintings of Guanyin are described as "mysteriously beautiful."
She created 24 portraits of Guanyin in a special album. These paintings were made with gold ink on black paper. They were inspired by other famous artworks. Her well-known painting, White Robed Guanyin, is kept in a museum in Taipei. She also painted other religious figures. One example is her fan painting of A Daoist Female Immortal, which might be Chang E.
Other Subjects She Painted
Besides religious figures, Qiu Zhu also painted women doing everyday things. She painted them playing Chinese chess under plum trees. She also showed them playing a musical instrument called a guqin under wutong trees. Some paintings show women sitting at a writing desk or playing with a parrot.

She also painted women celebrating the Double Seven Festival. This festival honors the Weaver Maid, who is a special spirit for women's work.
Qiu Zhu was seen as a very skilled painter. Her art style even influenced another artist named Wen Shu.
