The Quad City Airshow is an exciting yearly event. It takes place at the Davenport Municipal Airport in Davenport, Iowa. This airshow is the biggest one in the entire state of Iowa. It's a chance to see amazing planes and skilled pilots perform incredible stunts in the sky!
What Happens at the Airshow?
The Quad City Airshow has been held at the Davenport Municipal Airport since 1987. It is one of the oldest and largest airshows in Iowa. Many famous military demonstration teams from North America have performed here. Some international performers have also joined the show. For example, the 2016 airshow featured the ACC F-16 demo team. It also included the exciting Tora! Tora! Tora! show.

Safety at Airshows
Airshows are usually very safe events. However, sometimes unexpected things can happen. Here are a few past incidents that occurred during or near the Quad City Airshow:
- On June 23, 2013, pilot John Klatt had to land his MX Aircraft MXS plane. This happened after his engine had a problem. He was able to land safely and only had minor injuries.
- On September 1, 2012, Glenn Smith, a pilot with the HopperFlight Team, was flying his Aero L-39C Albatros. His plane crashed during a maneuver. The aircraft was destroyed.
- On June 29, 1992, an AV-8B Harrier II jet crashed after taking off from the airshow. The pilot, Maj. Jeffrey Smith, was injured and later passed away. The jet was too damaged to be repaired.
