The Quad City Airshow is an exciting yearly event held at the Davenport Municipal Airport in Davenport, Iowa. It is the biggest airshow in the state of Iowa. People come to see amazing planes and skilled pilots perform incredible stunts in the sky.

What Happens at the Quad City Airshow?

The Quad City Airshow has been a popular event at the Davenport Municipal Airport since 1987. It's one of the longest-running and largest airshows in Iowa. The show brings together many different types of aircraft and performers. You can see planes from the past and modern military jets.

Amazing Performers and Their Shows

Over the years, the airshow has hosted all the major North American Military Demonstration Teams. These include famous groups like the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. International performers also come to show off their skills. The 2016 air show featured the ACC F-16 demo team and the historic Tora! Tora! Tora! show.

Safety at Airshows

Airshows are generally very safe events, but sometimes unexpected incidents can happen. Pilots are highly trained, and safety is always the top priority. Here are some past incidents at the Quad City Airshow:

  • June 23, 2013: Pilot John Klatt had to land his MX Aircraft MXS after his engine had a problem. He was able to land safely and had some minor injuries. The aircraft needed repairs.
  • September 1, 2012: Glenn Smith, a pilot with the HopperFlight Team, was flying his Aero L-39C Albatros when it crashed during a maneuver. The aircraft was destroyed.
  • June 29, 1992: An AV-8B Harrier II jet crashed shortly after taking off from the airshow. The pilot, Maj. Jeffrey Smith, was injured and later passed away. The jet was severely damaged.
