Discovering Quartz Lake
Quartz Lake is a long, narrow lake. It stretches for about 4 miles (6.4 km). The lake is about half a mile (0.8 km) wide. It sits at an elevation of 4,416 feet (1,346 meters) above sea level.
Where is Quartz Lake?
Quartz Lake is nestled within the stunning landscapes of Glacier National Park. This park is famous for its rugged mountains and clear lakes. The lake is in Flathead County, Montana.
It is very close to another lake called Middle Quartz Lake. Only about 150 yards (137 meters) separates the two lakes.
Exploring the Area
Reaching Quartz Lake is an adventure itself. You can get there by hiking about 6 miles (9.7 km). The hike starts from the Bowman Lake Picnic Area. This area is a great starting point for many trails.
On the western side of Quartz Lake, you will find the historic Quartz Lake Patrol Cabin. This cabin is an old building used by park rangers. It helps them watch over the park and its wildlife. It's a cool piece of history in the wilderness.
