This channel is quite long, stretching for about 9 kilometers (around 5.6 miles). Its width changes as you travel through it. At its narrowest, it's about 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) wide, and at its widest, it reaches about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) across.
How Did it Get Its Name?
The Queen Charlotte Channel received its name from a ship! It was named after a Royal Navy schooner called HMS Charlotte. A schooner is a type of sailing ship with at least two masts.
