Róisín Elsafty is a talented singer from Connemara, Ireland. She is known for her unique style called sean-nós, which means 'old style' in Irish. Róisín grew up speaking the Irish language, which is a big part of her music.

She comes from a very musical family. Her mother, Treasa Ní Cheannabháin, was a highly respected singer in their area. Róisín's sisters, including Naisrín Elsafty, are also performers. Her stepfather, Saber Elsafty, is from Egypt.

Musical Journey

Róisín started her recording career in 1996. She made her first album, L'art du sean-nós, with her mother for a French music company. Since then, she has appeared on several other albums.

She has performed with famous musicians like Dónal Lunny and accordion player Máirtín O’Connor. They played at big venues such as the Konzerthaus Großer Saal in Vienna and the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

Róisín also performed with a group called The Irish Consort. In this group, she sang alongside tenor John Elwes, Reiko Ichise on bass viol, and Siobhán Armstrong, who played both the traditional wire-strung Irish harp and the European Renaissance harp.

In 2007, Róisín released her own CD called Má bhíonn tú liom Bí liom. This title means "If you are with me, truly be with me." The album featured both traditional Irish songs and new music. It was produced by Dónal Lunny and included other talented musicians like Máirtín O’Connor, Ronan Browne, and Siobhán Armstrong. In 2010, Róisín won an IMA award for being the Best Sean Nós singer.

Róisín and her family have shown support for civil rights in Palestine. She recorded a song called "An Phailistín" (Palestine) in both Irish and Arabic to show her support.
