Rabanal is a special type of neighborhood called a barrio in Cidra, Puerto Rico. A barrio is a small area or district within a larger town or city. In 2010, about 4,228 people lived in Rabanal.

Exploring Rabanal's Past

Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States after the Spanish–American War. This happened in 1898, following the Treaty of Paris of 1898.

In 1899, the U.S. government counted the people living in Puerto Rico. They found that Rabanal and a nearby barrio called Salto had a combined population of 1,498 people.

Over the years, Rabanal's population has changed. Here's how it grew:

  • In 1980, there were 2,272 people.
  • By 1990, the population increased to 3,409.
  • In 2000, it reached 4,277 residents.
  • In 2010, the population was 4,228.

Understanding Rabanal's Sections

Barrios like Rabanal are often divided into smaller local areas. These smaller areas are called sectores (which means "sectors" in English). The types of sectors can be different. Some are simply called "sector," while others might be named "urbanización" (a type of housing development) or "reparto" (a land division).

The barrio of Rabanal has many different sectors. They are grouped into two main parts: Rabanal Norte and Rabanal Sur.
