Rabindra Mishra (Nepali: रवीन्द्र मिश्र) is a well-known Nepali person who helps others (a philanthropist), used to be a journalist, writes books and poems, and is now a politician. He is currently a Senior Vice-chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party. Before this, he was a member of the Bibeksheel Sajha Party until September 2022.
He also used to be the national president of the Bibeksheel Sajha Party until May 2022. Earlier, he was the main editor of BBC Nepali Service. He left the BBC in February 2017 to join politics in Nepal. Rabindra Mishra also started a worldwide charity called Help Nepal Network. This charity has groups in 14 different countries and is run completely by volunteers who don't get paid.

His Education Journey
Rabindra Mishra studied English Literature and earned a Master's Degree from Tribhuvan University. After that, he went to the University of the Punjab in Pakistan. There, he got another Master's Degree, this time in journalism. He then continued his studies at the University of London, where he focused on International Politics.
His Work Experience
Before joining the BBC, Rabindra Mishra worked for Nepal Television. He also worked for a major English newspaper in Pakistan called The News International. In 1995, he joined the BBC World Service as a producer for their Nepali Service.
Later, he worked on big English-language radio shows like World Today and Newshour. In 2006, he became the chief editor of the BBC Nepali Service. This meant he was in charge of all the news and programs for the Nepali section of the BBC.
His Political Path
On February 28, 2017, Rabindra Mishra left his job at BBC Nepali to start a career in politics. He said he wanted to create a place where honest and skilled Nepalis could work together. His goal was to make politics in Nepal clean and help the country grow.
The very next day, on March 1, he went to the Election Commission. He asked to register a new political party called Sajha Party (which means "Common Party"). He also chose a weighing scale as the symbol for his new party.
In the 2017 elections, Rabindra Mishra ran for a seat in parliament from Kathmandu 1. He was running against Nepali Congress leader Prakash Man Singh. Mishra was not elected, losing by 818 votes.
In September 2022, Rabindra Mishra joined the Rastriya Prajatantra Party. He ran for parliament again in the 2022 election, once more in Kathmandu 1. He again faced Prakash Man Singh from the Nepali Congress. This time, he lost by a very small number of votes, just 125.
