Rachel Lynn Lindsay was born on April 21, 1985. She is an American media personality, a lawyer, and a podcaster. Rachel is well-known for being a contestant on the 21st season of ABC's TV show The Bachelor. She then became the main star of its spin-off show, The Bachelorette, for its 13th season.
Rachel Lindsay made history as the first African-American person to lead a show in The Bachelor TV series. She also worked as a correspondent for the TV program Extra from 2020 to 2023. Today, she co-hosts the Higher Learning podcast with Van Lathan. Rachel was also a part-owner of the FCF Shoulda Been Stars indoor football team.

About Rachel Lindsay's Early Life and School
Rachel Lindsay grew up in Dallas, Texas. Her mother, Kathy, worked as a beauty consultant and computer programmer. Her father, Sam A. Lindsay, is a federal judge. Rachel has two sisters, an older one named Constance and a younger one named Heather.
Rachel's College Education
Rachel went to the University of Texas at Austin for her Bachelor's degree. There, she studied kinesiology, which is the study of body movement, and sports management. She was also a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority.
Later, Rachel earned her law degree, called a J.D., from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She officially became a licensed lawyer in Texas on November 4, 2011.
Rachel Lindsay's Career
Before becoming famous on TV, Rachel Lindsay worked in law and sports. She was an intern for Texas State Senator Royce West. She also interned with the Milwaukee Bucks, a professional basketball team. After that, she worked at a law firm called Cooper & Scully, P.C.
Sports and Radio Work
In July 2018, Rachel was a guest host on ESPN's sports talk show First Take. Later that year, she started hosting a new ESPN radio show called Football Frenzy. She hosted it alongside Bobby Carpenter, a former football player for the Dallas Cowboys. When she was a teenager, Rachel was also a cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys team.
Podcasting Career
In May 2020, Rachel Lindsay launched her podcast, Higher Learning, with co-host Van Lathan. On this podcast, they talk about many different topics. These include Black culture, politics, sports, and current events.
The Higher Learning podcast has been recognized for its quality. It was nominated for the Outstanding Society and Culture Podcast award at the NAACP Image Awards three times. These nominations were for the 54th, 55th, and 56th awards. In May 2025, Rachel and Van celebrated the podcast's fifth anniversary.
Rachel also used to co-host the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. However, she left that podcast in April 2021. This was part of her decision to step away from the Bachelor TV series.

On The Bachelor
Rachel was a contestant on the 21st season of The Bachelor, which starred Nick Viall. On the very first night, she received the "first impression rose." This meant she made a great first impression. Rachel finished in third place on the show. The winner was Vanessa Grimaldi, and Raven Gates was the runner-up.
As The Bachelorette
Rachel Lindsay was announced as the star of The Bachelorette on February 13, 2017. This announcement happened while she was still a contestant on The Bachelor. For Rachel's season, ABC made an effort to cast the most diverse group of contestants in the show's history.
In the end, Rachel chose Miami native Bryan Abasolo. He is a doctor of chiropractic. She chose him over another contestant named Peter Kraus. Rachel and Bryan got engaged on the show. They lived in Dallas before moving to Miami in early 2019. They got married in August 2019. On January 2, 2024, it was announced that Bryan Abasolo filed for divorce. He stated that their separation began on December 31, 2023.
Rachel and Bryan returned to The Bachelorette during Becca Kufrin's season. They hosted the first group date. Rachel also appeared during season 16 of The Bachelorette. That season first featured Clare Crawley as the lead, followed by Tayshia Adams.
Other TV Appearances
Rachel Lindsay appeared in one episode of The Bachelor Winter Games. On the show, she helped judge a kissing contest. She judged alongside JoJo Fletcher and Arie Luyendyk.
On September 10, 2019, a show called Ghosted: Love Gone Missing premiered on MTV. Rachel Lindsay co-hosted this series with artist and actor Travis Mills. In the show, Rachel and Travis help people confront former friends or partners. These are people who suddenly stopped communicating with them, a behavior known as "ghosting."
In May 2020, it was announced that Rachel was discussing a new TV show. She was in talks with 20th Television to host and help produce a court show called Judge Rachel's Court. This show debuted in September 2021.
Rachel started working for Extra as a special correspondent in 2019. In August 2020, it was announced that she would become a full-time correspondent for the show's 27th season. Her full-time role began on September 8.
In 2023, Rachel had a supporting role in the Lifetime movie Devil on My Doorstep.
