Rahman Rezaei (Persian: رحمان رضايی, born on February 20, 1975) is a football coach and former player from Iran. He played as a centre-back, which is a defensive position. He also played for the Iranian national team.

Playing Career
Early Career in Iran
Rahman Rezaei was first noticed by a famous Iranian manager named Nasser Hejazi. He played for a team called Zob Ahan in Isfahan for five seasons. His strong performances for his club and the national team led to him moving to Europe.
Playing in Italy
Rezaei moved to Italy to play for Perugia. After that, he joined Messina. He became known as one of the most successful Asian defenders in Europe.
In the 2003-2004 season, he helped Messina get promoted to Serie A, which is Italy's top football league. He was a very important player for Messina, playing in many games. In 2006, he signed with another Serie A team, Livorno.
Fans in Italy gave him nicknames like "The Flying Carpet." His fans in Messina also called him the "Secretary of Defense."
Returning to Asia
In 2008, there were talks about Rezaei joining Persepolis, a big team in Iran. However, the club's manager decided they didn't need a centre-back at that time.
In 2009, Rezaei signed a one-year contract with Al Ahli SC in Qatar. In 2010, he returned to Iran to play for Shahin Bushehr. A few months later, he joined Paykan. He officially stopped playing football on July 4, 2012.
International Career
Playing for Iran
Rahman Rezaei played his first game for the Iranian national team in July 2001 against Bosnia. Since then, he was a very important defender for the team.
In European football, he was known for being a strong defender who could also start quick attacks. However, for the Iranian national team, his main job was to defend. He used to be a forward, but he became a key defender for Iran.
He was a major player for Iran in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. However, he faced some criticism for a few mistakes during the tournament.
Retirement and Return
In April 2007, Rezaei said he would stop playing for the national team after the 2007 Asian Cup. But later that year, he changed his mind and wanted to play again. He was then chosen to play for Iran in the 2010 World Cup Qualification matches.

Rahman Rezaei is married to H. Hashemian. She is a translator of Iranian origin who was born in Assisi, Italy.
