The Railway Exchange Building is a historic building in Muskogee, Oklahoma. It is one of five tall buildings, called skyscrapers, that were built in Muskogee before 1912. These buildings are important because they show how the city grew.
The Railway Exchange Building is officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This is a special list of places in the United States that are important to history. The other buildings on this list from Muskogee are:

Building Design and Style
The Railway Exchange Building has a special design style. It is built in the Chicago School of architecture. This style was popular for tall buildings around the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Buildings in the Chicago School style often have these features:
- They are shaped like a rectangle.
- They have a flat roof.
- The bottom two floors often have large windows. These were great for shops or displays.
- The windows on the upper floors are often in straight lines, going up and down.
- The building uses red brick and stone for its walls.
Who Used the Building?
The Railway Exchange Building is 8 stories tall. When it was first built, it was used for offices by railway companies. Later, the offices for Muskogee County, Oklahoma were located here.
In 1983, when the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places, the State of Oklahoma owned it. They used it for state offices. For a while, Connors State College also had classes in the building. The college later moved to the Northeastern State University campus in Muskogee.
A news article from 2012 said that the building had been empty since December 2011.
What's Happening Now?
There were plans to fix up this old building and use it for something new. However, these plans were put on hold in 2016. The state stopped giving money for these kinds of renovations. This happened because the state had less money in its budget.
