Rakesh Kumar, born on April 15, 1983, is a famous former Kabaddi player from India. He is now a coach for the Haryana Steelers team. He was a very important player for the Indian national team. He even served as the vice-captain when India won the gold medal at the 2007 Kabaddi World Cup. In 2011, the Indian government honored him with the Arjuna Award for his amazing achievements in the sport.

Early Life and Kabaddi Journey
Rakesh Kumar was born in a village called Nizampur in North West Delhi. He started playing Kabaddi in 1997 when he was still in school. After playing for his school team, he went on to represent Delhi at the national level. By 2003, he had joined the senior national team.
Rakesh Kumar's Kabaddi Career
Rakesh Kumar officially joined the national team in 2003. He helped his team win many gold medals.
International Success
He was a key player in the Indian team that won gold medals at the Kabaddi World Cups in 2004 and 2007. He also won gold medals at the Asian Games in 2006, 2010, and 2014. Additionally, he helped India win gold at the South Asian Games in 2006 and 2010. He also achieved success at the Asian Indoor Games in 2007, 2009, and 2013.
Pro Kabaddi League
When the Pro Kabaddi League first started, Rakesh Kumar was the most expensive player. The Patna Pirates team bought him for a high price. He became the captain of the Patna Pirates and led them to a third-place finish in the 2014 season.
Later, he played for other teams. In 2016, he joined U Mumba. For the 2017 season, he moved to the Telugu Titans.
Currently, Rakesh Kumar is the head coach for the Haryana Steelers team, sharing his experience with new players.
