Raleigh Hills is a community located in Washington County, Oregon, in the Portland area of the United States. It's known as a census-designated place, which means it's an area defined for counting people by the government, but it doesn't have its own city government.

Raleigh Hills is in the hills southwest of Portland. It is next to Beaverton to the west, West Slope to the north, and Progress and Garden Home to the south. In 2020, about 6,196 people lived here.

This community is found where two main roads meet: Oregon Route 10 and Oregon Route 210. Fire and emergency medical services for Raleigh Hills are provided by Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue. Raleigh Hills is also special because it was home to the very first New Seasons Market grocery store.

History of Raleigh Hills

Raleigh Hills got its name from Raleigh Robinson, who lived in the area.

  • Early Post Office: A post office called 'Raleigh' opened here in April 1892. It stayed open for 12 years before closing.
  • Train Stop: From 1914 to 1929, a train line called the Red Electric (run by Southern Pacific) had a stop in Raleigh. This made it easier for people to travel to and from the area.
  • New Post Office: Many years later, in 1968, a new branch of the Portland post office opened in Raleigh Hills.
