Progress, Oregon facts for kids
Progress, Oregon is a small area, often called a neighborhood, located in Washington County, Oregon, United States. It used to be a separate, small community not officially part of any city. Today, most of Progress is now inside the city limits of either Tigard or Beaverton. Other nearby communities include Garden Home and Metzger.
Progress is found around where three important roads meet: Oregon Route 217, Oregon Route 210 (known as Scholls Ferry Road), and Oregon Route 141 (Hall Boulevard). Scholls Ferry Road now forms a big part of the border between Tigard and Beaverton. The Progress area is also home to Washington Square, which is a very large and popular shopping mall that first opened in the early 1970s.
This area is also located along a train track called the Tigard-Beaverton branch line. This line is operated by the Portland & Western Railroad and mainly carries goods today. Many train lines in Oregon used to carry passengers. However, passenger service returned to these tracks in February 2009 with the opening of the Westside Express Service (WES). WES is a commuter train that runs during busy weekday hours. The WES line's Hall/Nimbus station is located right at the western edge of Progress.
