Ramūnas Butautas is a professional basketball coach from Lithuania. He was born on May 22, 1964, in Kaunas. His father, Stepas Butautas, was also a famous basketball player and coach.

Ramūnas Butautas has coached many different basketball teams. These include club teams and national teams. He is known for his work with teams in Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan, and Lebanon.

Coaching Career Highlights

Ramūnas Butautas has had a long and successful career as a basketball coach. He started coaching in 2003.

Coaching Club Teams

Butautas coached BC Šiauliai from 2003 to 2005. He then moved to ASK Riga in Latvia, coaching them until 2008. In December 2009, he became the head coach for Žalgiris Kaunas, a well-known team in Lithuania. He left Žalgiris in February 2010.

In March 2011, Butautas took over as head coach for BK VEF Rīga in Latvia. He led them to win the Latvian League championship multiple times. He stayed with VEF Rīga until June 2014. After that, he coached BC Astana in Kazakhstan, where he won the national championship in 2015. His last club coaching role was with Lietkabelis Panevėžys in Lithuania, which he joined in December 2017.

Coaching National Teams

Butautas has also coached several national basketball teams. In December 2006, he was chosen to be the head coach of the Lithuania men's national basketball team. He led the Lithuanian team until 2009.

Later, in 2017, Butautas was selected as the head coach for the Lebanon men's national basketball team. He coached them until 2018.

  • 2004: Head coach for Lithuania's Under-20 team.

  • 2017: Head coach for Lithuania's Under-20 team again.
  • 2017–2018: Head coach for the Lebanon men's national basketball team.
