Rameshraj Tewarikar was born on March 15, 1954. His birthplace was a village called Aice in the Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh, India. His full name is Ramesh Chandra Gupta.
His father, Ramcharan Gupta, was a writer of folk stories. He wrote in the Brajbhasha language. His father was also a freedom fighter. Rameshraj's mother, Ganga Devi, took care of their home.
