What's in a Name?
The name "Ramsele" has an interesting history. The oldest known name for this area was "Rannasild." This was found in a local book about the region.
Later, the town became known as Hrafnasil. This name likely came from Old Norse, which is an old language spoken in Scandinavia. Hrafnasil probably meant 'Calm water of ravens'. It's cool to think about how the name tells a story about the place!
