Rasheedah Phillips is an American artist, writer, and lawyer from Philadelphia. She is also a community activist. She created The Afrofuturist Affair. With Camae Ayewa, she co-founded the Black Quantum Futurism group. This group works in many different art forms.

Rasheedah Phillips started The Afrofuturist Affair in 2011. This was an online place for writers of color. They focused on speculative fiction, which includes science fiction and fantasy. Black Quantum Futurism

The Black Quantum Futurism collective was co-founded by Rasheedah Phillips and artist Camae Ayewa. They explore ideas about time, space, and the future. Their work often connects to Afrofuturism. This is a cultural movement that combines African culture with technology and science fiction. In 2019, their art was shown at the Western Front gallery in Vancouver.

Her Path to Law

Phillips graduated from Beasley School of Law at Temple University in 2008. She achieved this while working and raising her young child. In the same year, she began working for Community Legal Services in Philadelphia. She later became the Managing Attorney of the Housing Unit there. This means she led the team that helps people with housing problems.

Community Futures Lab

In 2016, Phillips started the Community Futures Lab. It is located in the Sharswood-Blumberg area of North Philadelphia. This lab is a community center and workshop space. It helps people in a neighborhood that is changing quickly. The Lab offers many activities for residents. It hosts readings and workshops. It also has a library. People can also record their oral history there. This helps preserve the stories of the community.
