History of Ravanna
Ravanna was first started in 1882. It was a new settlement in Kansas.
Becoming a County Seat
In 1887, Ravanna was one of two towns that wanted to become the "county seat" of Garfield County. A county seat is the main town in a county where the government offices are located. Garfield County later became "defunct," meaning it no longer existed as a separate county. It merged into Finney County in 1893.
Post Office Closes
The post office in Ravanna closed for good in 1922. This often happens in towns when most people move away.
