About Ravi B

Ravi Bissambhar grew up in a musical family in Sangre Grande, Trinidad and Tobago. He later moved to Cunupia. He went to Sangre Grande Hindu school, North Eastern College, and the University of the West Indies. His family has Indian roots from India.

Ravi started singing when he was just 13 years old. By the age of 25, he was already the main singer, music director, producer, and arranger for his band, Karma. He started Karma with his brother Anil and sister Nisha. Ravi B also works as a radio personality for 90.5fm, an Indian radio station in Trinidad and Tobago.

Ravi B's passion for music has taken him all over the world. He is known for being one of the most skilled and dedicated artists in his field. He can perform many different types of music. These include Chutney Soca, Bollywood playback songs, Soca, Reggae, Bhajans (religious songs), and traditional Indian classical music. Ravi B was born into a Hindu family and continues to follow his traditions.

Ravi Bissambhar is the main male singer for the band Karma. He also directs the music, produces, and arranges songs for the band. Karma plays a mix of Caribbean music styles.

Who Inspires Ravi B?

Ravi Bissambhar looks up to many famous artists. Some of his international inspirations include Kumar Sanu, Sonu Nigam, Eminem, and Machel Montano. However, he says his biggest inspirations are his parents, his brother Anil, and his sisters Nalini and Nisha. His love for music and his faith in God also inspire him greatly.

Ravi has traveled to many places to share Trinidad's culture, chutney, and soca music. He has performed across the Caribbean, in the U.S.A., Canada, Guyana, Europe, and Suriname.

Ravi B has achieved many great things in his music career.

• He was the first Chutney Soca artist to get over a million views on YouTube for his song 'Drinka'.
• He was also the first Chutney Soca artist to trend on Twitter. This happened during the 2013 Groovy Soca Monarch competition when he performed his song 'Prescription'. He placed fourth in that competition.
• Ravi B was the first artist to reach 100,000 fans on Facebook.
• He performed with famous artists like Nitin Mukesh in 1996 and Shah Rukh Khan in 1999.
• In 2003, he formed the band Karma with his father, brother, and sister.
• He started working for radio channel 90.5 FM in 2002.
• He performed with Kumar Sanu in 2004.
• Ravi B was chosen to open the Bollywood Music Awards in 2005 and 2006.
• His band, Karma, won the Best Sounding Band award at Unifest 2006 in Miami.
• He holds his own concert every year for Father's Day.
• He sang on the same stage as Babul Supriyo in Trinidad.

• At the 2015 International Soca Awards in New York City, Karma was named Best Chutney Soca Band of the Year.
• Ravi B also won Best Male Chutney Soca Artiste and Chutney Song of the Year at the same awards in 2015.
• He was voted Best New Artiste in 2003.
• He received the award for Best Bhajan album in 2005.
• He won Chutney Male Artiste of the Year 2015, Best Chutney Soca Song of 2015, and Chutney Band of the Year from 2010 to 2015 at the International Soca Awards 2015.
• He was nominated for Best Chutney Soca Artiste at the International Reggae Awards 2015.
• Ravi B was a finalist in the Mastana Bahar and Chutney Soca Monarch competitions. In 2010, he became the youngest person ever to win the Chutney Soca Monarch (CSM) title.
• He also won the Chutney Soca Monarch (CSM) 2015 and Traditional Chutney Soca Monarch (TCM) 2015 titles. This made him the youngest person to hold three titles at once.
• Ravi B has often placed first in the Chutneymusic.com Top 10 and Top 100 charts.
