Ravi Chopra (born September 27, 1946 – died November 12, 2014) was a famous Indian filmmaker. He was best known for directing the popular TV show Mahabharat from 1988 to 1990. He also directed many movies and other TV series.

Ravi Chopra was born into a family of filmmakers. His father was B.R. Chopra, a well-known producer and director. His uncle was Yash Chopra, another very famous director. This means filmmaking was in his family's blood!

Ravi Chopra was married to Renu since 1975. They had two children together. He passed away on November 12, 2014, in Mumbai, India, after an illness. He was 68 years old.
His Work in Films
Ravi Chopra started his career by helping his father and uncle make films. He learned a lot by assisting them on movies like Dastaan (1972) and Ittefaq (1969).
Becoming a Director
His first movie as a director was Zameer in 1975. It was made under his family's film company, B. R. Films.
Famous Movies
In 1980, he directed a big movie called The Burning Train. This film was about a train disaster and became very popular over time. He also directed other movies like Mazdoor (1983), Aaj Ki Awaaz (1984), and Dehleez (1986).
One of his later and very successful films was Baghban (2003). After his father passed away, Ravi Chopra also produced the movie Bhoothnath (2008).
