Raymond Peter Allison, born on March 4, 1959, is a former professional ice hockey player from Canada. He played as a forward for seven seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). During his career, he played for the Hartford Whalers and the Philadelphia Flyers. He even played in the big championship, the 1985 Stanley Cup Finals, with the Flyers. Raymond Allison was born in Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Hockey Journey

Raymond Allison had an amazing career playing junior hockey before he joined the professional leagues. He was the very first player ever chosen by the Hartford Whalers (which later became the Carolina Hurricanes). Everyone thought he would be a superstar for the team.

However, his first year in the NHL wasn't as great as people expected. A year later, he was part of a big trade involving ten players and moved to the Philadelphia Flyers. In Philadelphia, he started to become a strong scoring player.

Challenges and Later Career

Unfortunately, Raymond Allison broke his ankle during the 1982–83 NHL season. This injury made it hard for him to get a regular spot on the Flyers' main team again. After that, he spent his last few seasons playing in other leagues. These included the American Hockey League (AHL) in North America and some professional leagues in Switzerland.

Awards and Recognition

Even with the challenges, Raymond Allison was recognized for his talent during his junior career.

  • He was named to the WCHL Second All-Star Team in 1978.
  • He was also part of the WHL First All-Star Team in 1979.
