Rayo is a neighborhood, also called a barrio, located in the town of Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 3,084 people lived there. It is a part of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.
History of Rayo
Puerto Rico's Past
After the Spanish–American War, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States. This happened under the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Before this, Puerto Rico was controlled by Spain.
Early Population Counts
In 1899, the United States government took a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This was called a census. The census found that 1,222 people lived in Rayo barrio at that time.
