Ready Brek (also written as Ready brek) is a popular breakfast cereal. It is made from oats and produced by Weetabix Limited. This cereal is meant to be eaten hot.

You can find Ready Brek in two main types: 'original' and 'chocolate'. Other types were made before but are not sold anymore.

The Story of Ready Brek

Ready Brek was first made by a company called J. Lyons and Co.. A person named Walter Pitts helped create it. He worked as a manager at the Greenford factory for Lyons' Tea Division.

The cereal was first launched in 1957. Back then, it was sold as an instant porridge. In 1969, it became known as an instant hot cereal. Today, it is called a smooth porridge again. This is because porridge has become popular once more.

Weetabix bought the Ready Brek brand in June 1990. Ready Brek is usually more popular in autumn and winter. This makes sense because it's a warm breakfast!

Famous Slogans and Adverts

Ready Brek had some well-known slogans. These included "Central heating for kids" and "Get up and Glow".

During the 1970s and 1980s, TV adverts showed children. These kids would walk to school with a glowing effect around them. This glow was added to the video. The voice for these commercials was provided by Jon Pertwee.
