Recetor is a town and a municipality in the country of Colombia. It is located in the Casanare Department. The area of Recetor is about 182 square kilometers (70 square miles). Around 4,072 people live there.

Recetor is found on the eastern side of the Andes mountains in Colombia. It is about 800 meters (2,625 feet) above sea level. The average temperature in Recetor is about 22°C (72°F).

History of Recetor

Recetor was started on March 17, 1740. It was founded by Jesuit missionaries, who were members of a religious group. Later, in 1925, Recetor officially became a municipality.

The first people to settle in Recetor came from another part of Colombia called the Boyacá Department. They mostly came from towns like Miraflores, Berbeo, Paez, and Campohermosa.

Recetor covers an area of 182 square kilometers (70 square miles). A small part of this area, about 0.5 square kilometers (0.2 square miles), is the town itself. The rest, about 181.5 square kilometers (69.9 square miles), is the countryside.

Recetor shares its borders with different places:

  • To the west, it borders the Boyacá Department.
  • To the east, it borders the municipality of Aguazul.
  • To the south, it borders the municipality of Tauramena.
  • To the southeast, it borders the municipality of Chameza.
