What is the Red Bank Armory?
This historic building was first built in 1914. It was made for a group called Troop B of the National Guard. The National Guard is like a part-time military force that helps in emergencies. Troop B was a cavalry unit, which means they rode horses!
From Cavalry to Tanks
The armory had a huge space, 100 by 144 feet, just for horse riding. This was called an equestrian riding hall. Imagine horses practicing inside! Later, by the 1950s, the armory's use changed. It became a storage place for old military tanks.
A New Life as an Ice Rink
In 1998, the Red Bank Armory got a big makeover. It was turned into an ice rink! This gave the old military building a fun new purpose. Now, it's a popular spot for ice skating and hockey.
The Red Bank Generals Hockey Team
The armory is the home of the Red Bank Generals. This is a youth hockey team that plays in the New Jersey Youth Hockey League. They practice and play their games right here.
