Austin "Red" Robbins (born September 30, 1944 – died November 18, 2009) was an American basketball player. He was known for his strong play as a forward and center.
Red Robbins played professionally in the American Basketball Association (ABA). He was nicknamed "Red" because of his red hair and energetic personality. Throughout his career, he was excellent at grabbing rebounds, collecting over 6,000 of them. He was also a good scorer, especially with his three-point shots.

Early Life and College Basketball
Red Robbins was born in Leesburg, Florida. He grew to be 6 feet 8 inches tall. He played college basketball at the University of Tennessee in the 1960s. His skills there helped him prepare for a professional career.
Playing in the ABA League
After college, Robbins joined the professional basketball world. He played for several teams in the ABA. These teams included the New Orleans Buccaneers, Utah Stars, San Diego Conquistadors, Kentucky Colonels, and Virginia Squires.
Key Achievements in the ABA
Robbins was a very important player for his teams. He was chosen to be an ABA All-Star three times. This means he was one of the best players in the league in those years.
In the 1971-72 season, he was the best in the ABA at making three-point shots, with a 40.8% success rate.
Winning the ABA Championship
One of his biggest achievements was winning the ABA championship in 1971 with the Utah Stars. In a very important playoff game that year, he made 11 out of 12 shots. This amazing performance helped his team win and move closer to the championship title.
Later Life
Red Robbins passed away on November 18, 2009, in Metairie, Louisiana. He was 65 years old and had been battling cancer.
