Redland is a small, quiet place located in Clackamas County, Oregon, in the United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's managed by the larger county government.
Redland is about six miles (9.7 km) east of Oregon City. It is also about four miles (6.4 km) south of Carver.
Why is it called Redland?
The community of Redland got its name from the color of the soil there. The ground in the area has a distinct reddish color. This makes it easy to see why the early settlers chose the name "Redland."
Redland's Early Post Office
Like many small communities, Redland once had its own post office. The Redland post office first opened its doors in 1892. It served the local residents by handling their mail. However, the post office did not stay open for very long. It closed down just 11 years later, in 1903.
