Clifton Reece Gaines (born January 7, 1981) is an American basketball coach and former professional player. He used to be an assistant coach for the Austin Spurs. Today, he is the head coach for the Newfoundland Rogues.

Reece Gaines' Early Basketball Days
Reece Gaines grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. He played high school basketball at Madison West. After high school, he went to the University of Louisville. He played basketball there for four years.
College Success at Louisville
At Louisville, Reece was a star player. He was known as one of the best shooting guards in the school's history. In his final year, he helped his team win 25 games and only lose 7. He was even named a Third-team All-American.
Reece was great at scoring from long range. He made 225 three-point field goals. He also made 456 free throws. Plus, he was good at passing, with 475 assists. Another famous player, Dwyane Wade, once said Reece Gaines was the best college player he ever played against.
Reece Gaines' NBA Career
Reece Gaines was picked by the Orlando Magic in the 2003 NBA draft. He was the 15th player chosen overall. He joined the team on July 18, 2003.
Playing for the Orlando Magic
Reece played one season with the Orlando Magic. He played in 38 games. He scored about 1.8 points per game. He also got 1.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
Moving to the Houston Rockets
After one year, Reece was traded to the Houston Rockets. This trade involved several other players. He played 10 games with the Rockets. He scored 2.6 points per game there. He spent most of his time on the injured list.
Time with the Milwaukee Bucks
On February 24, 2005, Reece was traded again. He went to the Milwaukee Bucks. He played less with the Bucks. In the second half of the 2004–05 season, he played 11 games. He scored 1.4 points per game. His playing time went down even more in the 2005–06 season. He played 12 games and scored 1.1 points per game.

Playing in Europe
In 2006, he moved to Italy. He played for teams like Angelico Biella, Armani Jeans Milano, and Benetton Treviso.
In 2009, he joined the Bakersfield Jam team. He scored about 14.3 points per game there. In December 2010, he signed with JA Vichy in France. In January 2012, he played for the Fürstenfeld Panthers in Austria. His contract with them ended after 30 days.

Coaching at Bellarmine University
In 2012, Reece became an assistant coach at Bellarmine University. He coached there for three seasons. He helped the Bellarmine Knights reach the NCAA Division II Tournament three times. They even made it to the Sweet 16 and the Final Four once.
Coaching at Eastern Kentucky University
In 2015, Reece became an assistant coach at Eastern Kentucky University. In 2018, he was named acting head coach for a short time.
Coaching for the Austin Spurs
On November 5, 2019, the Austin Spurs announced that Reece Gaines was their new assistant coach.
