Reese's Take 5 is a yummy candy bar made by The Hershey Company. It first came out in December 2004. At first, its name was just TAKE5. But people often said "Take 5" with a space. So, in June 2019, the name officially changed to Reese's Take 5. This happened when it joined the famous Reese's family of candies.

The "5" in the name means it has five special ingredients. These are chocolate, peanuts, caramel, peanut butter, and pretzels. This mix of sweet and salty flavors makes it very popular. In 2019, it was even named a top candy bar by the LA Times! In Canada, this candy bar was called Max 5 for a while. It then came back in 2020 as "Oh Henry Level Up."

Different Kinds of Take 5 Candy Bars

The Hershey Company has made a few different versions of the Take 5 bar. These versions change one of the original ingredients.

Take 5 Flavor Changes

  • Chocolate Cookie: This version uses a chocolate cookie instead of the pretzel.
  • Marshmallow: This was a special, limited-time version. It had marshmallow creme instead of caramel.
  • Peanut Butter: This bar has a peanut butter coating. The original bar has a milk chocolate coating.
  • White Chocolate: This one is covered in white chocolate instead of milk chocolate.

The wrappers for these different Take 5 bars show which ingredient was changed.

New Look for Take 5

In 2016, Hershey decided to give the Take 5 bar a new look. They changed the wrapper and the logo. The new wrapper was black with gray stripes. The logo became a bright lime green. This new design helped the candy bar get more attention.

In June 2019, when the name changed to Reese's Take 5, the package changed again. The main color of the wrapper became orange. Hershey also shared that the peanut butter in Take 5 has always been the same delicious Reese's Peanut Butter. In the UK, Reese's Take 5 is sold under a different name, Reese's Overload.

How Take 5 Ingredients Can Change

Sometimes, the ingredients in candy bars can change. This can happen if the price of an ingredient goes up a lot. For example, the price of cocoa butter increased in 2008. Cocoa butter comes from the cocoa bean. When prices go up, companies might use cheaper ingredients. They might use vegetable or sesame seed oil instead. This helps keep the candy affordable.

What's in a Reese's Take 5 Bar?

It's good to know what's in the food we eat. In September 2016, Hershey started using something called SmartLabel. This helps people easily find information about their food.
