Refton is located in the middle of Lancaster County. It sits in the western part of Strasburg Township. Two important streams border the community. To the northwest, you'll find Pequea Creek. To the southwest, there's Big Beaver Creek, which flows into Pequea Creek.

U.S. Route 222 goes through the northeastern side of Refton. This road connects Refton to larger towns. If you travel north on Route 222 for about 9 miles (14 km), you'll reach Lancaster.
