Becoming a Count
When Reginald was 25 years old, his father passed away in 1087. Reginald then took over his father's role and became the new Count of Burgundy. At the same time, he also gained control of the area known as the County of Mâcon.
Family Life
Reginald II married a woman named Regina of Oltingen. Through this marriage, he gained even more land and power, becoming the Count of Oltingen. Reginald and Regina had a son together, who was named William II, Count of Burgundy. William II would later follow in his father's footsteps and become a count himself.
His Death
Historians are not completely sure about when and where Reginald II died. Some records suggest he might have died around 1095, before a big event called the First Crusade began. Other records say he might have died later, around 1102, while he was in a faraway land known as the Holy Land. It's also possible that he went on the First Crusade with his brothers, Stephen I and Hugh, who was the archbishop of Besançon.
