Regino Hernández Martín (born on July 25, 1991, in Ceuta) is a Spanish snowboarder. He is best known for winning a bronze medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Regino competes in a snowboarding event called snowboard cross.
Regino's Snowboarding Journey
Regino Hernández started his career by showing great promise. He won a gold medal in snowboard cross at the 2011 FIS Junior World Championships. This big event took place in Valmalenco, Italy.
Olympic Adventures
Regino has competed in the Winter Olympics multiple times. His first time was at the Vancouver 2010 Games. He finished 31st there.
Four years later, he went to the Sochi 2014 Olympics. He did better this time, reaching the quarterfinals and finishing 21st.
His biggest Olympic success came at the Pyeongchang 2018 Games. Regino made it to the final race and won a bronze medal! This was a very special moment for Spain. It was the country's first medal at the Winter Olympics since 1992.
World Cup Achievements
Regino also had success in the World Cup series. This is where snowboarders compete regularly around the world.
His first time on a World Cup podium was in La Molina, Spain. This happened on March 15, 2014, where he finished third in a snowboard cross event.
He also achieved top results in team events:
- In December 2016, he won a gold medal in a team snowboard cross event in Montafon, Austria.
- In December 2017, he won another gold medal in a team snowboard cross event, also in Montafon, Austria.
- In March 2018, he earned a silver medal in a team snowboard cross event in Veysonnaz, Switzerland.
