Path to Leadership
Reid Milanovich didn't always plan to go into politics. This was true even though his father was a well-known leader. After college, he returned to Palm Springs in 2011. He then started going to the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians tribal meetings.
He joined the tribe's scholarship group. This group helps students get money for college. From 2012 to 2014, he was on the board of directors for the Agua Caliente Cultural Museum. This means he helped guide the museum.
In 2013, he tried to get elected to the tribal council. He didn't win that time. Later, he sometimes voted for others on the tribal council. In April 2014, he was elected to the tribal council.
In November 2019, he became the Vice Chairman. This happened after the previous Vice Chairman, Larry N. Olinger, passed away. Milanovich spoke at Olinger's funeral. On April 5, 2022, Reid Milanovich officially became the Chairman of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.
