Relient K is an American band that started in Ohio. Their music is often called Pop punk or Christian rock. Pop punk is a type of rock music that is fast and catchy. Christian rock means the band's songs sometimes talk about Christian faith. Relient K has released many studio albums and shorter music collections called EPs. For example, their album "The Bird and the Bee Sides" came out in July 2 2008.
Some people have wondered if Relient K is truly a "Christian music" band. This is because not all their songs mention God or focus on Christian beliefs. Matt Thiessen, one of the band members, has said that they just want to make music from their hearts. They don't mind what people call their music.

How Relient K Started
Relient K began in 1998 with four members. At that time, they were still in high school. The people in the band have changed a bit over the years. However, the two main members, Matt Thiessen and Matt Hoopes, are still part of the group.
One of their songs, "Hoopes I Did It Again," might sound like a famous pop song. But it's actually a funny reference to Matt Hoopes' last name. In this song, the two Matts sing back and forth as if they are talking on a phone.
For their fourth album, called "Mmhmm," the band added new instruments. They used a banjo and brought in another guitar player. This helped them add more piano sounds to their music. The album's title, "Mmhmm," can be said in different ways. You might also see it written as "MMHMM" or "MmHmm."
Relient K's Funny Side
Relient K is well-known for its special kind of humor. They often use "tongue-in-cheek" humor. This means they say things that are only half serious, often to be funny. They used this style in many of their early songs.
Some funny song titles include "Marilyn Manson Ate My Girlfriend" and "Nancy Drew." "Nancy Drew" is a song about the famous detective character from books. Another funny song is "May the Horse Be With You." This title clearly makes fun of a popular phrase from the Star Wars movies.
Their second album was even named "The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek." This shows how important humor was to their music.
