Relja Bašić was born in Zagreb on February 14, 1930. At that time, Zagreb was part of a country called the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. His mother's name was Elly Bašić.

Relja Bašić became one of the most well-known actors in Croatia. He worked in movies and plays for more than 50 years. His most famous role was playing Mr. Fulir. This was in the 1970 musical comedy Tko pjeva zlo ne misli. This movie is still very popular today.
