What is the Renault Espace?
The Renault Espace started as a MPV. MPV stands for Multi-Purpose Vehicle. These cars are designed to carry many passengers or a lot of cargo. They are often called minivans in some countries.
Europe's First MPV
The Espace was a very important car in Europe. It was the first MPV to be sold there. It came out shortly after the Dodge Caravan, a similar type of car, was released in the United States. This made the Espace a pioneer in family car design.
Engines and Power
Early Espace models used different types of engines. These included 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder petrol engines. They also had diesel engines. These engines help the car move by burning fuel.
From MPV to Crossover
Over the years, the Renault Espace has changed its style. From 1984 to 2014, it was a classic MPV. These cars look a bit like vans but are built for families.
However, starting in 2015, the Espace changed. It became a crossover SUV. SUVs are Sport Utility Vehicles. Crossovers combine features of SUVs with regular cars. This new style made the Espace look more modern and rugged.
