Early Life and Dreams
Renee Jane Paquette was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. After finishing high school, she applied to different colleges. She also started learning improv comedy. When she was 19, she moved to Los Angeles to become a comedic actress. However, she later returned to Toronto. There, she tried out for films, music videos, and commercials. When she didn't get many auditions, she decided to focus on broadcasting instead of acting.
Career Highlights
Starting at The Score (2009–2012)
Paquette began her career at The Score Television Network in 2009. She worked on a show called Right After Wrestling, which later became Aftermath. On this show, she presented alongside Arda Ocal, Mauro Ranallo, and former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas.
Time in WWE (2012–2020)
Renee Paquette joined the American professional wrestling company WWE in October 2012. She was first given the name Renee Sterling, but she chose Renee Young instead. Her first appearance was on the 2012 Survivor Series pre-show. She co-hosted it with Scott Stanford.
Young then debuted on the January 23, 2013, episode of NXT. She worked as a backstage interviewer. In February 2013, she started doing interviews only for WWE Active. Renee made her SmackDown debut on March 29. She interviewed wrestlers like Randy Orton, Big Show, and Sheamus.
Young also co-hosted World Tour segments. These segments showed different tourist spots in the cities where they were filming. Later, she became a main presenter on The JBL and Cole Show. This show was on YouTube and WWE's website until June 2015. It even won a Slammy Award for Favorite Web Show of the Year. She also presented WWE Vintage Collection with Gene Okerlund.
In September 2013, Young started doing commentary on NXT. She provided commentary during women's matches. She then became a full-time commentator for NXT for several months. From July 3, 2014, to January 9, 2015, Young was a commentator on Superstars. She worked alongside Tom Phillips. This made her WWE's first full-time female announcer in over ten years.
In April 2015, Young started her own WWE Network show. It was called Unfiltered with Renee Young. On this show, she interviewed other WWE employees. In June, Young co-hosted the sixth season of Tough Enough with Chris Jericho.
On December 20, 2016, during SmackDown, Young interviewed WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz. She asked him about his "obsession" with Dean Ambrose. Miz then revealed Young and Ambrose's real-life relationship. This led Young to slap Miz. The next week, The Miz's wife, Maryse, confronted Young backstage. Maryse slapped Young the following week.
Young filled in as a guest commentator on the August 13, 2018, episode of Raw. This made her the first woman to commentate an entire episode of Raw. Young joined the Raw commentary team full-time the next month. She became the first permanent female commentator on the show.
In October 2019, Young moved to SmackDown as a "special contributor." She also started co-hosting the new show WWE Backstage on Fox Sports 1 with Booker T. On November 1, 2019, Young filled in as a commentator on SmackDown. This was because Michael Cole and Corey Graves had travel delays. Young announced she was leaving WWE at SummerSlam in August 2020. She said this event would be her last with the company. Young explained she left because WWE Backstage was canceled. She felt she had achieved everything she wanted in WWE.
After WWE (2021–Present)
Paquette, as Renee Young, returned for a special SmackDown pre-show on October 16. She co-hosted the kickoff show with Booker T. This was part of the celebration for season two of SmackDown on Fox. Paquette also made a special appearance on WWE Backstage on January 30, 2021. She promoted the Royal Rumble with her co-hosts Paige and Booker T.
In 2021, Paquette started her own podcast called Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette. It was later renamed The Sessions with Renee Paquette. She also created a YouTube channel to go with her podcast. This channel features video clips and full podcast episodes. In September 2021, she began hosting a show on Sirius XM. It was called Throwing Down with Renee and Miesha, with former UFC champion Miesha Tate.
Joining All Elite Wrestling (2022–Present)
On October 12, 2022, Tony Khan confirmed that Paquette had signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). She made her debut that same night on Dynamite.
Other Work
Before joining The Score, Paquette worked for BiteTV. From 2008 to 2009, she hosted a show about extreme sports and music called Rippin' It-N-Lippin' It. She appeared in a commercial for Oxy and was in a Tom Green music video. Before that, she had a small part in Kelly Clarkson's 2005 music video for "Behind These Hazel Eyes". She also appeared in a national Noxzema commercial. In 2016, Paquette became a main cast member for the sixth season of Total Divas. She had appeared in several episodes before as a recurring guest. She also hosted the podcast Regular Girls with Stacy McGunnigle.
Personal Life
Paquette started dating American professional wrestler Jonathan Good in 2013. He is better known as Jon Moxley (and formerly Dean Ambrose). They got married at their Las Vegas home in a quick ceremony on April 9, 2017. In November 2020, Paquette and Good announced they were expecting their first child. Their daughter, Nora Murphy Good, was born on June 15, 2021.
Paquette is a big fan of the Vegas Golden Knights ice hockey team. She has always been a wrestling fan. She said, "I went to a few events and WrestleMania VI. My father is a concert promoter and he used to get me into events. I remember being backstage and meeting Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Chyna, & Trish Stratus as a kid, so it's really funny to me that I ended up here. I went down a distinct path than wanting to be a WWE Superstar."
In March 2021, Renee became an American citizen. In May, she released her cookbook called Messy in the Kitchen: My Guide to Eating Deliciously, Hosting Fabulously and Sipping Copiously.
