How the Podcast Was Made
Bruce Springsteen and Barack Obama became friends when Obama was campaigning to become president in 2008. They spent time together on the campaign trail, which is when politicians travel around to meet people and give speeches.
Barack Obama decided to start his own podcast after his wife, Michelle Obama, had a good experience with The Michelle Obama Podcast. In 2019, the Obamas' company, Higher Ground Productions, signed a special deal with Spotify to create podcasts just for them.
The first recording session for Renegades happened on July 30, 2020. The entire podcast was recorded at Bruce Springsteen's home in Colts Neck Township, New Jersey.
From Podcast to Book
In October 2021, a book was published that was based on the conversations from the Renegades: Born in the USA podcast. It includes the discussions and other materials from their talks.
