A Look at Reno's History

Reno began to grow in 1870. This was when a railroad line was built and extended to that spot. When a community is "platted," it means someone drew up a map showing how the land would be divided into lots for buildings and streets.

A post office was opened in Reno in 1870. This allowed people in the community to send and receive mail. The post office served the area for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1912.
