Reno is a city located in Lamar County, Texas, in the United States. In 2010, about 3,166 people lived there. By 2020, the population had grown to 3,454 residents.

History of Reno

Reno is found along U.S. Highway 82, right next to the city of Paris in Lamar County. It might have started as a stop for trains on the Texas and Pacific Railway, which was built in 1876.

In 1886, Reno had two schools. One school was for white students and another was for Black students. The town might have also been called Davis at one point. Records from the late 1800s show a post office named Davis at "Reno Switch."

By 1891, Reno had a general store and a grocery store. The post office closed in 1907. In 1942, there were four businesses and about 80 people living there. Two schools were still open in 1948. Reno officially became a city in 1968. By 1969, its population was 180.

The United States Census Bureau says that Reno covers about 3.8 square miles (10.72 square kilometers) in total. Most of this area is land. A very small part, about 0.26%, is water.
