Helping the Government
As a special assistant to former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, he used social media to gather opinions and share information about government projects. In 2011, he encouraged Nigerians living abroad to support President Jonathan for the elections.

Exploring Africa
On New Year's Day 2025, Reno Omokri made history. He became the first Nigerian to abseil down Victoria Falls and climb back up using only ropes and a harness. He did this to encourage more Africans to travel and explore their own continent.
This amazing achievement was recorded on video. The manager of Abseil Victoria Falls, James Chinotimba, and his team confirmed this record.
Omokri is known for his love of adventure. He has hiked the Inca Trails in Machu Picchu, Peru, and climbed the challenging Phnom Kulen mountains in Cambodia. He also hiked in Nepal and flew over Mount Everest in 2019.
Sports Betting Concerns
Omokri has asked President Bola Tinubu to ban sports betting in Nigeria. He believes this would help Nigeria's money, the Naira, become stronger. He suggested that the Nigerian Communications Commission should stop sports betting apps from being available. On Twitter, Omokri said that sports betting can harm Nigeria's economy. He also believes it can lead to small crimes and negatively affect young people.
Helping Voters with Transportation
During Nigeria's 2019 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission changed the election date at the last minute. Many Nigerians were upset because they had traveled far to vote.
To help, Omokri started a program called #BusesForDemocracy. This program offered free rides to voters to their polling places. It didn't matter who they planned to vote for.
Free Leah Sharibu Campaign
Omokri started the Free Leah Sharibu movement. This campaign works to get Leah Sharibu released. Leah is a Christian girl who was kidnapped by the group Boko Haram in February 2018. Boko Haram offered to free her if she changed her religion to Islam, but she bravely refused.
In April 2019, former British Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson MP, showed off special #FreeLeahSharibu clothing at his office in the British Parliament. Through this clothing line and his book, Omokri raised over £4,000 to help Leah's parents.
In April 2019, Omokri wore a #FreeLeahSharibu tracksuit while flying over Mount Everest in Nepal.
In November 2019, Omokri received the Humanitarian of the Year award at the Hollywood Weekly Magazine Film Festival. This award recognized his efforts for the #FreeLeahSharibu campaign.
A song called "Angels on Guard: A Song for Leah," which Omokri helped produce, became popular worldwide and was played on many radio stations.
Protests in London and New York
In April 2021, Omokri led protests in London. The goal was to encourage President Buhari to return to Nigeria for healthcare instead of staying in the UK.
In September 2021, Omokri also led a protest against President Buhari in New York. This happened while the President was attending a meeting at the Seventy-sixth session of the United Nations General Assembly. The protest was peaceful, and no arrests were made.
Legal Discussion with Paul Enenche
A court ruling in January 2025 removed a legal order against Omokri. This order was related to his criticism of Pastor Paul Enenche. Omokri had said that Pastor Enenche used his church influence to support a political party during the 2023 Nigerian elections. Omokri believed this went against church rules and election laws.
Awards and Recognition
In April 2022, Omokri won the Business Influencer of the Year award from Business Insider. He received 74.67% of over 200,000 votes. Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar congratulated him.
In December 2024, Top Charts named Omokri the 21st most talked about person in Africa. This was based on Google algorithms.
