Reno Omokri's Work

Reno Omokri worked as a Vice President for Joe Trippi and Associates, a company in the U.S. that helps politicians.

He was a special helper to the former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan. He was known for using social media to ask people questions and to show what the Nigerian Government was doing.

In 2011, Mr. Omokri asked Nigerians living outside Nigeria to support President Jonathan for the elections. He also signed a letter from a group called G 57 that asked for the resignation of a past leader, Yar'adua.

From 2015 to 2016, Mr. Omokri hosted a TV show called Transformations With Reno Omokri. It was a Christian teaching program shown on different TV networks.

Since 2015, Mr. Omokri has spoken out against some of the current Nigerian government's decisions. He believes in traditional values and wants society to return to strong moral principles.

What Reno Omokri Cares About

Encouraging Travel in Africa

On New Year's Day in 2025, Reno Omokri became the first Nigerian to climb down and then back up Victoria Falls using only ropes and a harness. He did this to encourage more Africans to travel and explore places within Africa.

This amazing achievement was filmed. A manager from Abseil Victoria Falls and his team saw and confirmed what he did.

Mr. Omokri is known for other adventures too. He has hiked the Inca Trails in Machu Picchu, Peru, and the tough mountains of Phnom Kulen in Cambodia. In 2019, he also hiked in Nepal and flew over Mount Everest.

Helping Voters with Free Transport

During Nigeria's 2019 elections, the election date was changed just five hours before it was supposed to start. Many Nigerians were upset because they had traveled far to vote.

To help, Mr. Omokri started a program called #BusesForDemocracy. This program gave free rides to voters to their voting places. It didn't matter who they planned to vote for.

The Free Leah Sharibu Campaign

Reno Omokri started the Free Leah Sharibu movement. This campaign uses media to ask for the release of Leah Sharibu. She is a Christian girl who was taken by a group called Boko Haram in 2018. Boko Haram offered to let Leah go if she became a Muslim, but she bravely said no.

In 2019, former British Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, showed off special clothes with the #FreeLeahSharibu message at his office in the British Parliament. Through these clothes and a book, Mr. Omokri raised over £4,000 for Leah's parents.

On April 11, 2019, Mr. Omokri wore a #FreeLeahSharibu tracksuit while on Mount Everest in Nepal.

In November 2019, Mr. Omokri received the Humanitarian of the Year award at a film festival in California. This was for his important work on the #FreeLeahSharibu campaign.

A song called "Angels on Guard: A Song for Leah," which Mr. Omokri helped produce, became popular around the world and was played on radio stations.

Protests Against Leaders

On April 2, 2021, Mr. Omokri led protests in London. The goal was to ask General Buhari, Nigeria's President, to return to Nigeria instead of getting medical care in the UK.

Later, on September 24, 2021, Mr. Omokri led another protest against President Buhari in New York. The police were called, but they did not stop the protest because it was peaceful. After this protest, someone attacked Mr. Omokri near his hotel. His bodyguard, Mr. Sean Reilly, protected him. The incident was filmed and shown in the news.

Asking for Justice

On November 17, 2021, Mr. Omokri started a petition online. He asked the International Criminal Court to investigate and punish Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari. This was about the #LekkiMassacre, where peaceful #EndSARS protesters were harmed. This happened after a report from Lagos said the Buhari government was involved.

In less than 24 hours, 40,000 people signed the petition. By November 19, 2021, it was the fastest-signed petition from Nigeria.

Awards and Recognition

In April 2022, Reno Omokri won the Business Influencer of the Year award from Business Insider. This is an American news website about money and business. He won with 74.67% of over 200,000 votes. Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar congratulated him.

On December 21, 2024, Top Charts named Mr. Omokri the 21st most talked about person in Africa. They used Google information to figure this out.
